The Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts (The Wallis) project included restoring, modernizing and repurposing a 100-year-old, former U.S. post office listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The former post office building was then joined to a new, modernist building, creating a performing arts venue, arts-education center and community-gathering space in the heart of Beverly Hills.
The new theater structure houses a 500-seat theater with extremely high-end level-5 finishes, custom serpentine sound walls that were cladded with serpentine acoustical sound panels.
KHS&S completed the interior framing/drywall and taping finishes, ACT ceilings, acoustical sound panels, GFRC themed ceilings. In the theater building KHS&S’ scope included a custom sound isolation system around the entire theater including the floor due to having a basement below with large equipment and a parking structure adjoining.
