With six courtrooms and 12 chambers, the 467,000 square foot, $382 million construction project integrates new and existing federal buildings with gardens, a water feature and pedestrian paths.
The courthouse design is a 16-story tower that rises above a transparent and translucent building base. In order to achieve GSA Design Excellence and create a sustainable courthouse, a number of green principles were incorporated into the project.
Despite scope changes during the project, KHS&S was able to maintain the project schedule and deliver a superior project to the client.
The new courthouse is projected to achieve LEED Gold certification.
KHS&S completed the interior framing/drywall, insulation, acoustical ceilings, fireproofing and lath/plaster on this United States courthouse.
