The Smith Center for Performing Arts

Las Vegas, NV

Overview

The Smith Center for Performing Arts consists of a 232,000 square foot, a 2,050-seat auditorium in the Large Hall, with a founders’ room and grand foyer. A second building houses a 70,000 square foot Education Center that will be used for performances, rehearsals and community receptions, including a 200-seat Studio Theater and the 300-seat Cabaret Theater. The project is anticipating a LEED silver certification.

KHS&S completed work on the Large Hall, the Education Center and The Museum.

KHS&S was contracted to provide BIM modeling at The Smith Center for Performing Arts. The work included an “Kick Off” meeting to review the project, the needs, the “Big Room” meeting dates, clash detection dates, and sign-offs. KHS&S coordinated the main model and incorporated the other trades elements into one working model. On a weekly basis, the “Big Room” meeting was held at the client’s job site trailer to review issues that each trade came across during the week as well as provide suggestions of value engineering, schedule efficiencies and follow up with clash detection issues from the week before.
